Ad-Hoc Testing
Frontier Protection Worldwide (FPW) houses an array of state-of-the-art test facilities designed for evaluating materials against reaction to fire and fire protection standards.
Our comprehensive facilities include:
01
Small Scale Single Burning Item (SBI) Simulator:
Used for the EN 13823 room corner test, this simulator assesses the fire performance of materials.
03
Small Scale Jetfire Rig:
Developed for the testing of intumescent products under hydrocarbon and jetfire conditions.
02
Small Scale Furnace:
Specifically employed for testing small structural steel sections coated with intumescent coatings, with modular capabilities for larger barrier panels. The furnace demonstrates exceptional correlation with full-scale testing, exceeding a 96% correlation factor. It accommodates fire test curves from BS476 part 20-22 to EN1381-2 and UL1709 hydrocarbon curve.
04
Brandshaft Simulator:
Utilized to test specimens in accordance with the DIN 4102 test requirements.
05
ASTM E84 Simulator:
Emulates the ASTM E84 standard for surface burning characteristics of materials.
06
Radiant Panel Apparatus:
Simulates BS476 part 7 and EN5658, assessing the surface spread of flame.
07
Small Test Cabinet:
Recently constructed to keep pace with evolving fire test standards, this cabinet is capable of running tests such as EN ISO 11925-2 for construction, EN 531 tests on textiles, FAR 25 appendix G aerospace tests, UL 94 tests on cables, plastics, and construction, FMVSS 302 testing for motor vehicle components, and the Limiting Oxygen Index (ISO 4589-2).
Our custom-built equipment accelerates our own research and development efforts, minimizing the turnaround time for data from small-scale, bench-prepared samples. Clients have the opportunity to use this apparatus independently for their product developments without direct involvement from FPW. For fire protection, simulations of BS 476 parts 20-24, EN1381, and ASTM E119 are possible.
The furnace can also replicate the hydrocarbon curve. In reaction to fire, simulations or tests on non-certified apparatus can be conducted for standards such as ASTM E84, FAR25 appendix G, FVP 3020, EN 13823, EN 9239, EN 11925, BS 476 part 6, BS476 part 7, EN5658, DIN 4102 parts 2, 6, and 7, UL94, and Limiting Oxygen Index.
